Beyond the Meal: Providing Support for Individuals Dealing with Dementia at Home

St. Vincent Meals on Wheels goes #BeyondtheMeal to serve the community and provide support for individuals dealing with dementia at home.

While our primary goal remains delivering nutritious, medically tailored meals to homebound seniors and other vulnerable individuals, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels goes above and beyond to uplift and assist those in need in our community, irrespective of age, illness, disability, race, religion, or ability to pay.

Often, the volunteer or staff member delivering meals is the sole point of contact for clients, offering vital social interaction and serving as an additional support system for those who are isolated at home.

Recent research conducted by Ohio State University highlights the significant impact of Meals on Wheels programs in addressing the needs of individuals with dementia. With more than 80% of people with dementia living at home, and a majority unable to prepare meals independently, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels provides essential assistance and companionship.

Thanks to the unwavering generosity of our donors, we can deliver nutritious meals but also extend our reach #BeyondtheMeal to engage and uplift homebound seniors dealing with dementia, helping them thrive in their own homes.
