Meals on Wheels California Conference 2024

St. Vincent Meals on Wheels CEO, Veronica Dover, and resident dietitian, Itchaqueira (Nena) Fontanez, attended the Meals on Wheels California Conference to gain knowledge and insight into the challenges facing our state’s rapidly growing older Americans population and how St. Vincent Meals on Wheels can best serve them.

Although many of the Representatives were on spring recess, their friendly staff members listened as Veronica and Nena engaged them about how St. Vincent Meals on Wheels serves as a lifeline to many of their constituents and how vital their support is to help us maintain services for the most vulnerable in Los Angeles. The staff members were moved to hear about the vital role St. Vincent Meals on Wheels plays in the lives of the constituents they serve. Surprised by the extent of the growing need, they pledged to work with the Representatives to help raise awareness and champion our mission to go #BeyondtheMeal and serve homebound seniors with food and love.

By sharing our success stories through direct engagement with our representatives in Sacramento, we not only highlight the crucial services we provide but also showcase the real impact we have on the community.

Telling our story to those who can influence change can drive positive outcomes for the seniors we serve. With determination and compassion, Veronica and Nena knocked on the doors of power in our state capital and made a lasting impact at the highest levels of decision-making, helping us thrive.
