U.S. Congressman Jimmy Gomez, 34th District, Visits

On August 2, U.S. Congressman Jimmy Gomez took time from his busy legislative schedule to visit St. Vincent Meals on Wheels to celebrate the SVMOW “champions” who have lent their support to the organization over the last few years. Among the champions on hand were Robert Sakaguchi, General Manager at Vons; Alvin Seah, VP of Western Region for Singapore Airlines; Scott Perry, West Coast Manager for Laderach; all of whom have both donated to and volunteered at SVMOW. Along with Rep. Gomez, public servant Laila Molina, Field Deputy from L.A. City Councilmember Hugo Soto- Martinez’s office, also attended the warm, low-key celebration of the champions, which included a tour of the kitchen, greeting the staff and the centerpiece – visiting with and delivering meals to SVMOW clients. Local media outlets KNBC and Telemundo attended and interviewed the Congressman as well as representatives from SVMOW, including Executive Director/CEO Veronica Dover and Dan Franco, Operations Specialist and HACCP Manager. Also in attendance was Director of Development Christine Calderon Caruso.
