The Circle of Life, The Circle of Care
In these final weeks of Lenten reflection before Easter brings spring’s renewal, many of us find ourselves thinking about what truly matters.
When we encounter someone in daily life, we see only a moment — someone who may appear frail, hurried, lonely, or uncertain. Yet every person carries a lifetime behind that moment: years of work, relationships, hopes, and struggles that shaped who they are.
Life moves in circles. Bodies change. Circumstances shift. But the dignity of a life lived never disappears.
At St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, we are reminded of this every day. The people we serve were once teachers and city planners, bankers and dancers, screenwriters, mechanics, parents, partners, neighbors, and friends — people who helped build the communities we all share today.
Now, as life brings new challenges, they enter our circle of care.
That care arrives in simple ways: a knock on the door, a warm meal, and a few moments of conversation. For those receiving the visit, there is joy in being seen and remembered. For the volunteers and staff who make those visits, there is joy in serving.
This is the circle of life becoming a circle of care.
Even as the cost of reaching thousands of homes across Los Angeles County continues to rise, this work continues because our community chooses to make it possible.
Your support helps ensure that every visit still carries the same message: You matter. You are remembered.
And through the daily act of preparing and delivering food and love, no senior is forgotten.
