Strengthening the Safety Net

“Shine within these hearts of yours”

At St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, we recognize that food is more than just fuel; it signifies connection, dignity, and health. Unfortunately, many older adults in Los Angeles County struggle to access healthy and consistent meals. Over 1.4 million adult Angelenos experience food insecurity, with seniors—especially in Hispanic and Asian communities—being disproportionately affected.

In response to this urgent need, we take action. Our dedicated team ensures that no senior goes hungry simply because they cannot leave their home. We carefully assess each client’s individual needs through a thorough intake process, allowing us to create meals that are not only nutritious but also medically tailored to support their health. Our dietitians design menus that meet FDA guidelines, emphasizing freshness and flavor while considering dietary restrictions—low in sodium, rich in nutrients, and appropriately portioned.

For many seniors, the friendly face of a delivery driver may be their only interaction of the day. These brief visits also act as informal wellness checks, offering peace of mind to family members and caregivers.

Access to food is a fundamental human right, especially for seniors, as it is essential for their health, independence, and joy. Our programs serve as a lifeline, enabling older adults to remain in their own homes longer, maintain their health, and feel valued in our community.

Your support in helping us fulfill our mission to prepare and deliver food and love is essential. Whether you choose to volunteer, donate, or spread the word, every action you take on behalf of the most vulnerable among us aids us in feeding and caring for our homebound seniors while strengthening the safety net for those in need.

Together, we can provide not only hot meals but also compassion and care to those who need it most. Thank you for being a part of our mission.
