National Diabetes Month

November is National Diabetes Month, a reminder that food is more than fuel. It is care. It is attention, connection and love. And at St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, this is the daily expression of our mission.

Many of the seniors we serve live with diabetes, heart disease, renal conditions, or other chronic illnesses. When someone new comes to us, our dietitian begins not with a list of restrictions, but with a conversation. She listens to their story, their health challenges, their preferences — and then designs meals that meet those needs with accuracy and respect.

Our kitchen prepares these medically tailored meals with careful attention: balanced carbs for diabetes control, low-sodium options for heart health, renal meals for kidney support, and soft or pureed choices for those who have difficulty chewing or swallowing. Every detail is intentional. Every plate has a purpose.

These meals help seniors remain stable and safe at home. They prevent avoidable hospitalizations. They protect both health and dignity.

Feeding someone is indeed an act of love — and at SVMOW, it is also an act of responsibility.

Because of your support, we can keep bringing each client not only a meal that is hot and nutritious, but care shaped to their life, their challenges, and their health.

Thank you for making this possible.

Together, we can continue to deliver food and love to the seniors who depend on us.
