Collaborating with Kroger Million Meals Project
Recently, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels (SVMOW) had the opportunity to take part in the Kroger Million Meals Project, an effort that emphasizes the importance of community partnerships in fighting food insecurity. We are thankful to Salvador Ramirez, Director of Corporate Affairs for Kroger Co., for inviting SVMOW Director of Development, Julie Delgadillo, and her team to volunteer at the Queen Mary in Long Beach. This collaboration was enjoyable and meaningful, and it came just weeks after Salvador and his team, representing the Kroger family of stores, including Ralphs and Food4Less, generously sponsored our annual Hollywood Under the Stars fundraising gala at Paramount Pictures. In addition, Kroger’s commitment to our mission was further demonstrated by their generous donation of several pallets of snacks and shelf-stable meal items to both St. Vincent Meals on Wheels and Hotel Dieu. It is through partnerships like these that we can effectively address the critical issue of senior hunger in LA County.
At SVMOW, we aim to continue being a “Safety Net for LA County Seniors,” and our partnership with Kroger and Salvador’s team is crucial to reaching this goal. We truly value the generosity and kindness of Kroger’s staff, whose dedication to community service helps us serve more seniors in need. Together, we can work toward a future where no senior goes hungry, and we are excited to expand this partnership to create a lasting impact in our community.
