Celebrating National Nonprofit Day

August 17th is National Nonprofit Day! This special day honors organizations making a difference in our communities. At St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, we take pride in being the largest privately funded senior nutrition program in the United States, dedicated to supporting thousands of hungry and homebound seniors across LA County—from Santa Monica and other beach cities to Torrance, Pasadena, South LA, Hollywood, and all of Central and Downtown LA.

As a crucial support system, SVMOW makes sure that many vulnerable seniors living at or below the poverty line receive not just nutritious meals, but also love and connection. With looming federal funding cuts creating uncertainty, the need for our services will grow among this increasingly vulnerable group. Many seniors risk being left behind, and we are prepared to fight for them. But we cannot do it alone—we need your help!

Your support is essential to ensure that no senior faces hunger or isolation. Here’s how you can help: consider making a one-time or monthly donation of any amount. For example, a $50 donation can provide meals for a senior for a whole week, while a recurring contribution can help sustain our services over the long term.

Please share this message of hope and care with your family and friends. Together, we can raise awareness and motivate others to join our mission.

Every day, we hear inspiring stories from seniors who benefit from our program. One client shared that our daily visits not only provide him with meals that give him strength and energy after suffering a recent health crisis but also bring a smile and a sense of connection to his otherwise quiet days. This is the heart of what we do—delivering not just food, but also human connection, a vital part of healthy living.

As we go through these tough times, your generosity will help us keep our promise to be the eyes and ears for seniors facing one of the hardest parts of their lives. Together, we can help them not just survive but thrive.

Thank you for standing with us as we celebrate National Nonprofit Day and always.
